Masthead Design
This design is my final design for my masthead. I use illustrator to create it and i decided to try it out in different colours to see which one would stand out and look the best. I started off with the masthead in black but i decided that it would not stand out on the front cover and it would be boring. I tried out different shades of red and maroon and decided that i want my mast head to be red (the first red design) because it would stand out from the page and my colour scheme is red, black and white.

Persona
This photo has inspired me in my own photo that i am going to take for my music magazine. This is because i am thinking of also using a instrument in my front cover, however, i would only use one instrument which will add to the image but it will not be too confusing for the viewer and the attention would be on the artist. The positioning of the artist in this image is accurate because it its in the centre and it attracts the viewers eyes but i would use a closer picture of my artist. The rulp of thirds is respected in this image and i want to also make use of it on my front cover. This photo could not be used for a front cover because it is too confusing and it has too much going on, it will also clash with the cover lines.
I got inspiration from this image as well because it is the same genre as my music magazine and the dark colours and tattoos are representative of the genre and the all have a much stronger persona which i also want to achieve in my pictures and especially my front cover. My model will be wearing black/dark colours for the shoot. This image would be something i would use for my contents page because of the positioning of the artists and because the photo is taken landscape and also the background of the image in my opinion is too complex. The artists give a strong but still calm and playful vibe because some of them are smiling and others have their arms crossed.
Journalism workshop
Yesterday we went to UK's oldest cinema (regent street cinema) to watch an interview with Anna Smith who is a film critique and a journalist. We also got to ask her questions at the end of her interview to find out more about her work and how to become a successful journalist and get payed work. I've learned that when you interview someone especially someone who does a lot of interviews you need to find new refreshing questions instead of asking the same old question they usually have to answer because it gets boring and it would not be engaging. Also, i learned that it is important to get paid for your work even if it is very little money at the beginning as your work is worth money. The trip was very useful and interesting.
